Alex Alexeyev's Fate Revealed After Off-Ice Incident
Capitals defenseman Alex Alexeyev was in court for his May 17 public intoxication arrest, and was fined $91, according to a Russian media outlet. TASS. The fine must be paid by October 21.
Should Alexeyev, however, maintain good behavior, the class 4 misdemeanour will be dropped, and he will avoid having a criminal record.
The 25 year-old Alexeyev was booked into the Arlington County Jail after he was pepper-sprayed following a confrontation in the Clarendon neighbourhood of Arlington.
Ironically, his booking photo showed him still missing several teeth, due to a high stick he took in this season's playoffs, looking very much the part.
Alex is an RFA this summer after featuring in 18 combined regular-season and postseason games this past year. Club President McLellan would like to get him into more games moving forward.
Alexeyev, a 2018 1st round draft pick, has played parts of four seasons with the Caps, getting into 80 career games.
Should the blue liner fail to keep good behaviour, he would return before the same judge and face further sanctions, with possible jail-time, depending on what caused Alexeyev to not keep the peace.
Alex Alexeyev played a key role on the Washington Capitals blue line towards the end of the regular season.
Following
Martin Fehervary's season ending knee injury, Spencer Carbery elected to promote Alexeyev in a big way, giving him the nod to fill Fehervary's shoes.
While Alex Alexeyev's playoff performance was mediocre at best, it should be interesting to see how the offseason unfolds for him.
