Just now, the Washington Capitals have announced that goaltender Logan Thompson is absent from morning skate, which confirms Logan Thomson is indeed indeed dealing with an injury.
For now, Clay Stevenson and Charlie Lindgren will handle the goaltending duties until there's a clearer update on the severity of Thompson's injury.
For those who missed it, as per House of Hockey, Thompson was hurt after accidentally being run into by teammate Dylan Strome immediately after Montreal's Juraj Slavkovsky slipped the puck past him for a 5-3 Canadiens lead in the 3rd period.
Strome inadvertently cross-checked Logan Thompson up high as he was attempting to stop from running into him. He remained down on the ice for several moments before being tended to by a team trainer, and he required the assistance of his teammates to help get him off the ice.
Fortunately, Logan Thompson was able to make a triumphant return to the lineup just in time for Game 1 against the Montreal Canadiens.
However, after last night's vicious collision, there's growing concern among fans that he may have aggravated the same injury-- or potentially made it even worse.
With the full extent of Thompson's injury remains unknown, all eyes will now turn to Charlie Lindgren to step up and help get the Capitals series back on track.
