Alex Ovechkin scores goal No. 896 as Nastasiya Ovechkin shares heartfelt tribute to his journey

On Sunday night, Alexander Ovechkin continued to write history by scoring his 896th career goal just moments after an emotional public tribute from his wife Nastasiya Ovechkin.
Returning to the lineup after sitting out Saturday's 7-0 loss to Columbus, Alex Ovechkin wasted no time making an impact during the second game.
Just 70 seconds into the first period, he scored on a one-timer past Jet Greaves with an assist from Dylan Strome and it was Alex Ovechkin's first goal since he broke Wayne Gretzky's all-time record on April 6.
Earlier that day, Nastasiya shared heartfelt comments on Instagram which is marking her first public message since her husband reached the historic milestone.
«It is very difficult to describe in words all the emotions that our entire family is feeling right now! First, I want to congratulate my husband on such an incredible achievement,» Nastasiya wrote. «Our sons and I are extremely proud and love you!»
Her post touched on the emotional and physical grind that shaped Alex Ovechkin's 20-season pursuit of greatness by acknowledging the stress, injuries and sacrifices made behind the scenes.
"You are a true fighter with a big, kind heart, and I believe that only people with such pure soul can reach the heights you've reached. The person you are is undoubtedly the achievement of your parents, and for that, I am endlessly grateful to them!"
She also thanked the Capitals organization, teammates and fans who have supported Ovechkin throughout his legendary career.
Sunday's goal was also Ovechkin's 566th at even strength which is tying Gordie Howe for second all-time in that category and Jet Greaves became the 184th goaltender to fall victim to an Ovechkin goal.
Although the Capitals lost 4-1, the moment was still historic and deeply personal with just four goals left to reach 900, Ovechkin's story continues to unfold, with family, fans and history all watching.
