Analysis of Nic Dowd's 2024-2025 season

It is often difficult to determine an NHL player's on-ice impact, without looking at the myriad of available statistics. Here, we analyze Washington Capitals Nic Dowd's 2024-2025 season.
We begin by rating some of Dowd's intangible Attributes, as per Peter Hassett of RMNB, beginning with Strength 7, Intelligence 6, Speed 3, Endurance 9, Personality 7 and Luck 4.
By the numbers, 34 year-old Nick Dowd scored 14 goals in 2024-25, and had 13 assists in 82 games played; he was on the ice for an average of 15 minutes per game.
According to Nic's Isolated Impact by HockeyViz, when he was on the ice, opponents took fewer shots on net from the high-danger areas - the low and high slot. Dowd's Synthetic Goals rating was 1.7, which shows how a player compares to the league average at individual finishing, setting up teammates to score, and taking and drawing penalties - Dowd's score was above the NHL average.

Nic's Player Overview by NHL Edge showed he was in the higher percentile in several key areas of the game: Speed burst over 20mph (64), skating distance (76), shooting % (79), and goals (63), with 14 goals - the league average was 11.2.
Nic Dowd's Fan Happiness Survey was excellent, with an average score of 4.4. RMNB asked fans in a survey, 'On a scale of 1-5, how happy are you to have this player on your team'.
Peter Hassett of RMNB said the following about Nic Dowd: "It's hard to think of a lunch-pail grinder as an extraordinary hockey unicorn, but that's what Dowd is. Literally no one had a harder workload in the NHL...and he does it excellently. Over the past five years, that sacrifice powered Alex Ovechkin to the goal record as much as any one of Ovi's linemates has."
There can be no higher praise for a hockey player than that.
