Andrew Cristall wins Bob Clarke Trophy as WHL's top scorer
Andrew Cristall was officially awarded the WHL's Bob Clarke Trophy as the league's top scorer for the 2024-25 season.
Cristall topped all players with 132 points (48 goals, 84 assists) in just 57 games, split between the Spokane Chiefs and Kelowna Rockets.
Capitals prospect wins the Bob Clarke Trophy as WHL's leading scorer.
The 20-year-old Capitals prospect ended the regular season with the highest point-per-game rate (2.32) in the entire CHL among players who appeared in at least 25 games. This is the second time Cristall has earned the monthly award this season, in addition to four weekly award wins.
Cristall was drafted by the Washington Capitals in the second round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
Chris Cerullo from RMNB writes that Cristall's 132 points are the second-most in a single season by any WHL skater in the past decade, only behind
Connor Bedard's 143 points in 2022-23. The 2023 second-round pick recorded seven games with five or more points, including a hat trick and seven points against the Wenatchee Wild on January 11.
"The Vancouver native made league history when he became the first WHL player in the 21st century to reach 400 points against the Victoria Royals on March 7. He has only kept up his historic scoring in this year's playoffs, notching 37 points (20g, 17a) in 14 games." -Cerullo
Cerullo also writes that Cristall and the Chiefs have a few days off before facing the Medicine Hat Tigers in the 2025 WHL Championship Series (WHL finals). Spokane is looking to win their third WHL championship and their first since 2008, when they also went on to claim the Memorial Cup.
Game 1 of the series is set for Friday night at 7:00 pm.
