Among the notable attendees last night were NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and Ovechkin's wife, Anastasia Shubskay, who were on hand to witness history in the making.
Although the Capitals were dealt a decisive 5-2 loss, Alexander Ovechkin inched one step closer to breaking Wayne Gretzky's all-time scoring record.

At 19:25 in the 2nd period, Ovechkin ripped home a blistering slap shot, bringing within 3 goals of Wayne Gretzky's record.
Following the goal, Anastasia Shubskaya jumped from her seat in excitement, and the pair exchanged an awkwardly stiff handshake.
