Capitals head coach mixes up names of Lane and Cole Hutson

The Washington Capitals and Montreal Canadiens are set to clash in the opening round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs on Monday. While the teams don't share many similarities in terms of playing style, they do have one notable connection within their organizations: each features a member of the Hutson family.
At his first postseason press conference, Spencer Carbery gave a heads-up to the media that he'd probably end up mixing up the Hutson brothers' names, and, true to his word, he did exactly that almost immediately after the warning.
Renaud Lavoie took to X and posted the funny moment Saturday afternoon.
Ian Oland from RMNB writes that Candiens' Lane Hutson is a dynamic, smooth-skating defenseman who broke out in the 2024-25 season and is a strong contender for the 2025 Calder Trophy as Rookie of the Year.
On the other side, the Capitals hold the rights to his younger brother, https://www.markerzone.com/hockey/stats/nhl/player/Cole-Hutson-67646, a similarly skilled, slick-skating blueliner who made history as the first defenseman to lead the World Juniors in scoring and captured NCAA Rookie of the Year honors.

«Suzuki's line with Cole Hutson has, since the Four Nations, we have him as the best line in the National Hockey League. So they're a handful and utilizing Lane,» Carbery said began briefly before trailing off.
