The Washington Capitals pulled off an epic comeback win in Game 4 against the Montreal Canadiens last night, but the team still has a few lingering questions on the injury front. One of the biggest concerns is star forward Aliaksei Protas, who remains sidelined with a lower-body injury.

The Washington Capitals are wrapping up their morning skate, and all eyes are on star forward Aliaskei Protas as he continues to inch closer to full health.
Over the past week, Aliaskei Protas has been steadily working his way back to full game speed, and all signs suggest his return to the lineup could happen any day now.
After practice, head coach Spencer Carbery spoke with the media and offered an encouraging update on the big Belarusian forward.

Spencer Carbery gives update on Alaiksei Protas

According to Spencer Carbery, Aliaskei Protas is good to go and looks like he's back to full strength.
Capitals coach Spencer Carbery said this morning that Aliaksei Protas (skate cut on foot), is "right there" as far being close to playing.

«He's full practice. He's ready to roll. We'll see if he gets into Game 5.»

The Washington Capitals face an interesting dilemma regarding Protas.
With a commanding 3-1 stranglehold on the series against the Montreal Canadiens, you have to wonder -- is it really necessary to rushy Protas back?
If he's only around 95%, it might make more sense for Spencer Carbery to play it safe, give him a few more days, and potentially bring him back for Game 6 if needed.
That said, it doesn't look like Carbery is thinking that way. According to sources, the Capitals series lead isn't factoring into the decision. Carbery made it clear that Protas will return when he's fully ready -- and by all accounts, that time is now.
Carbery said the Capitals being up 3-1 in the series will not impact decision when Protas will return:

«I would say that it does not come into play, where the series is at. He'll play when he's ready.»

Will Aliaskei Protas be inserted back into the lineup come Tuesday? Time will tell.
More details to follow.
