Leon Draisaitl sets new NHL record for most overtime goals

In a game that saw the entire emotional spectrum o full display, Leon Draisaitl set a new NHL record for Most Overtime Goals in a single playoff, while helping the Edmonton Oilers beat the Florida Panthers in game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals, and tie the series 2-2.

Oilers now return home to Rogers Place for game 5 of the series, with home ice fully restored. Given that the series will likely go seven games, it's an advantage for the home side, though granted, a small advantage, with each team having won in the other's arena.
Leon Draisaitl orchestrated the comeback against Florida, and in doing so, achieved a Stanley Cup Final first, by scoring 1:18 into overtime to give Edmonton the 5-4 win.

It was Draisaitl's record-setting 4th overtime goal in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, and his 2nd of this year's final.

"Good play by Podzie there, to get it to the middle," Draisaitl said post-game to TNT's Darren Pang. "Obviously, it was a fortunate bounce, but we'll take those right now."

Vasily Podkolzin assisted on the historic overtime goal, as Draisaitl jumped off his bench for a rush; Leon then one-armed the puck past Sergei Bobrovski, with Florida's AJ Greer draped all over his back.
Though happy about his heroics in Florida, Draisaitl is focused on bigger things.
"Yeah, it's good. But I mean, obviously we have a lot of work ahead of us. I'll take it, but yeah, bigger picture".

Panthers' Matthew Tkachuk scored consecutive powerplay goals 5:16 apart, then with 42 seconds left in the 1st period, Anton Lundell scored, to give Florida a commanding 3-0 lead.
The Oilers began the 2nd period with the game's backup goalie Calvin Pickard between the pipes, hoping to jumpstart the offense - and it worked. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored on an Edmonton powerplay goal 3:33 into the 2nd, followed by goals from Darnell Nurse and Podkolzin.
Oilers' Jake Walman scored with 6:24 left in regulation, and the comeback was complete. But Florida pushed-back with an extra attacker on the ice, and with 20 seconds remaining in the 3rd, Sam Reinhart sent the Amerant Bank Arena fans bananas with the game-tying marker.
Game 5 in Edmonton will be nothing short of spectacular, if the previous four are any indication; it goes tomorrow at 8pm.
