Last night, the Florida Panthers have eliminated the Toronto Maple Leafs from the playoffs and will be moving on to face the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Final. Unfortunately, referee Chris Rooney was involved in a horrific accident and is in a very bad way after taking a stick to the face. Just now, the NHL has provided an update on his condition.

The Toronto Maple Leafs failed to shake off their playoff demons last night against the Florida Panthers and have now been sent home packing.
In a blowout defeat, the Toronto Maple Leafs were embarrassed by a score of 6-1, and GM Brad Treliving is faced with a tough offseason mission.
Obviously, the famous Toronto "Core-four" comprised of Auston Matthews, William Nylander, John Tavares, and Mitch Marner will likely be split as it's clear the team cannot win with these players.

Health update on Chris Rooney

According to Linformateur, unfortunately, referee Chris Rooney left Sunday night's game after being hit directly in the face by Panthers defender Niko Mikkola.
The official was in very bad shape as he headed for the exit and the scene was disturbing to watch.
Now, TSN insider Pierre Lebrun has offered fans a breaking update on his condition.
Update on veteran referee Chris Rooney, who left Game 7 last night in Toronto after being hit with a stick during a follow-up. A scary incident. He has a black eye, but fortunately, he wasn't injured. He hopes to be back on duty later in the round. Fortunately, that wasn't the worst of it.

We would like to send our best wishes over to Chris Rooney during this difficult time.
