After missing the NHL postseason, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby continues to show the NHL he's a true patriot and ambassador of the sport - announcing he will be joining team Canada at the World Championships.
I'll be the first to admit - I didn't see this coming.
Even at 37 years old, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby continues to elevate his game and will proudly lead Team Canada at the World Championships.
Sidney Crosby to join team Canada at World Championship
This year, Sidney Crosby had the honour of captaining Team Canada at the Four Nations Face-Off Tournament, and it's clear the Penguins legend never passes up an opportunity to represent his country.
The 2025 IIHF Men's World Championship will take place from May 9-25, 2025, in Herning, Denmark, and Stockholm, Sweden.
Although the Pens fell short of the playoffs this season, Crosby is already putting in extra work this offseason, determined to help push the Penguins back into the postseason dance next season.
According to TSN, The 37-year-old Crosby scored 33 goals and 58 assists over 80 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2024-25, his 20th season with the franchise and third straight without a postseason appearance.
As per TSN there's also a chance Colorado Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon will be joining the team as well.
Both Nathan MacKinnon and Sidney Crosby are natives of Nova Scotia and will look to add another gold to Hockey Canada's impressive resume.
MacKinnon, 29, is day removed from his Colorado Avalanche being eliminated by the Dallas Stars in seven games. The 12-year veteran and 2013 first overall pick scored 32 goals with 84 assists over 79 games this season, the third year he recorded 110 or more points.
