The Washington Capitals are riding a high after a hard-fought 3-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

It's fair to say that tonight was a must-win for the Washington Capitals. Falling behind 2-0 in the series before heading back to Raleigh would've been a tough hole to climb out of, but the team dug deep and found a way to get it done.
A huge amount of credit goes to Logan Thompson, who was outstanding between the pipes and essentially stole the game for the Capitals.

Washington Capitals defeat Carolina Hurricanes in Game 2

What a gritty performance by the Washington Capitals tonight.
The Carolina Hurricanes have brought a fast, high-tempo style throughout the series, and the Washington Capitals have had a tough time matching their pace.
However, tonight the Capitals stepped up in a big way, delivering a disciplined shutdown performance and holding the Hurricanes to just one goal.
While the Hurricanes mounted a furious comeback with ten minutes left in the third period, the Washington Capitals would hold on thanks to an empty net goal by forward Tom Wilson.
Goaltender Logan Thompson stood on his head tonight, stopping 25 of 26 shots faced.
Game 3 is set for this upcoming Saturday at 6:00 PM ET.
More details to follow.
