The Washington Capitals are preparing for their first playoff game against the Montreal Canadiens on Monday, and the team has just announced a significant move.

D Ethan Bear has been recalled from AHL Hershey ahead of Game 1 vs. MTL. Assuming this means there are concerns about the Ds who are banged up. Remember: Fehervary, Carlson and Roy (ill) all missed Thursday's reg season finale. Practice is in a bit; should know a little more then. #ALLCAPS

According to sources, the Washington Capitals have re-called defenceman Ethan Bear from their farm affiliate in Hershey.

Washington Capitals re-call Ethan Bear

It looks like the Washington Capitals are in desperate need of reinforcements-- and they're calling on blue-liner Ethan Bear to step up and provide the help they need.
While Ethan Bear's call-up to the NHL is certainly a bold move, his journey back to the big leagues has been anything but easy.
Bear entered the Player Assistance Program in May after playing just 24 games due to the shoulder surgery. Speaking to the Hockey News in a recent interview, Bear opened up on the battle with his mental health and physical health, and when it reached the point he knew he needed help.
"Last year was very hard for me mentally, physically... I've never been through something like that before.

I noticed myself not being able to go to bed at night, not being able to wake up in the morning... it was hard for me. It felt like everything was just very challenging to do. You know what? I had to go. It was just... it was the best thing for me. That's all I could say.

After receiving some much-needed support, Ethan Bear says he feels better than ever-- and he's ready to make the most of his NHL return.
With his recall coming at one of the most critical points of the season, all eyes will be on Bear to see how he performs after an extended time away from the league.
Ethan Bear has had a solid year with the Hershey Bears, posting 46 points in 62 regular season games.
More details to follow.
