Breaking news in Capitals Nation as the team announces they have signed top prospect Ryan Leonard to a 3 years entry level contract (ELC).

Ryan Leonard has been one of the biggest names in college hockey for quite some time, and the Caps top prospect has finally earned his shot in the big leagues.
Yesterday, Washington Capitals general manager Chris Patrick made the announcement official, sparking excitement among fans for what lies ahead.

Washington Capitals sign Ryan Leonard

HELLO, LENO‼️

The Washington Capitals have signed forward Ryan Leonard to a three-year entry-level contract. Leonard's contract will carry an average annual value of $950,000.

The deal carries an AAV of $950,000 through the 2026-27 season -- well deserved, to say the least.
If you're a big hockey fan, you would be remiss not to know the name Ryan Leonard.
Back in 2023, the Washington Capitals selected the big right-winger 8th overall in the NHL entry draft. Since then, he's been arguably the most dominant player at the college level.
For the past two seasons, Leonard has been playing for Boston College which is considered one of the formidable powerhouses in the NCAA.
Since being drafted in 2023, Leonard has demonstrated NHL-calibre skill and maturity, with many fans believing he was ready as early as last season.
Thankfully, Leonard made the executive decision to continue his development at the NCAA level -- a decision that has 100% worked in his favour.
This season, the Amherst, Massachusetts native led the nation in goals with 30, sitting 10th in the NCAA with 49 points in 37 games.
Since the debut of the 2024-25 NHL season, the Washington Capitals have been a force to be reckoned with, but this signing only strengthens their roster heading into the post season.
Ryan Leonard is expected to make his highly anticipated start tonight against the Boston Bruins.
Congratulations, Ryan!
