Breaking news in Caps' Nation: Wayne Gretzky, AKA "The Great One" shocks the world as he announces he will be following Alexander Ovechkin from city-to-city until the scoring record is broken.
During last night's epic victory against the Boston Bruins, "The Great 8" scored his 38th goal of the season, marking his 891st career goal.

Alexander Ovechkin is now within arms reach of the all-time scoring record, just four goals shy of making history.
Gretzky scored his 894 goals in 1,487 games during 20 NHL seasons with the Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, St. Louis Blues and New York Rangers before retiring after the 1998-99 season.

According to sources, Wayne Gretzky will officially be joining the great chase, taking time out of his busy schedule to witness the inevitable.
Wayne Gretzky is expected to begin following Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals city-to-city so he can be in attendance when Ovechkin breaks his all time goals record.
Gretzky said he will be «the first to shake his hand» when Ovechkin breaks his record.
With 8 games left in the regular season, the ultimate individual prize is there for the taking.
According to
Wayne Gretzky, the "Great One" plans to be the first person to shake Ovi's when the record eventually belongs to him.
Back in October, Wayne Gretzky highlighted his feelings about the record being broken, expressing his full support for Ovechkin surpassing him.
"Oh yeah, of course," Gretzky said last month. "It's just a matter of time, whether it's late this year, early next year, whenever. I mean, he's a great player. He's a great goal scorer."
The Washington Capitals are taking on the Carolina Hurricanes tonight, and don't be surprised if you spot Wayne Gretzky in attendance.
