Let's be honest - there's no love lost between Caps' fans and Jalen Chatfield.
Throughout the course of the 2024-25 NHL season, Chatfield was a constant agitator, getting under Washington's skin any chance he got.
Tensions reached a boiling point in their final regular season game when Chatfield took down
Connor McMichael with a controversial hit that sparked plenty of bad blood.
Now, there's a new twist - early signs suggest that Chatfield's availability for the rest of the series may be in doubt due to injury.
Rod Brind'Amour provides injury update on Jalen Chatfield
Coming into Game 4, there were already big question marks regarding Chatfield's status.
Although the Hurricanes medical staff cleared him to play, giving Chatfield a rest might have been the safer call. Sources say he "tweaked something" late in the game, but head coach Rod Brind'Amour has since offered a bit of reassurance to concerned fans.
According to head coach Rod Brind'Amour, he believes Jalen Chatfield should be "fine" for Game 5 on Thursday, even though he hasn't had a chance to speak with the blue liner directly.
While coaches often keep injury details close to the chest, there's no denying the Hurricanes will need Chatfield in the lineup if they hope to close out the series.
