Alex Alexeyev pepper-sprayed and arrested for public intoxication

Just now, it was announced that Washington Capitals defenceman Alex Alexeyev has been arrested and pepper-sprayed for public intoxication in Arlington. He was also involved in a physical altercation that lead to the arrest.
This is not a good look for Alex Alexeyev, to say the least.
It appears that Aleyev is taking the team's elimination for the postseason hard, and his drunked antics have caused him to make headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Washington Capitals make public statement on Alex Alexeyev arrest
According to RMNB, A crime report gathered by ARLnow reportedly notes that «Aleksandr Alekseev, 25, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication.» The 25-year-old defender was booked at the Arlington County jail at 4:19 am Saturday.
Alexeyev was later released, and no court date has been made publicly available yet.
A Capitals representative provided the following statement to RMNB:
«At approximately 3:26 a.m. on May 17, officers on patrol in the 3100 block of Clarendon Boulevard were flagged down by a witness who reported an active fight outside of a business,» Arlington County Police Department spokesperson Kiyah Daniell told ARLnow. «Officers subsequently observed the male suspect involved in a physical altercation with the male subject.
«As officers approached, the male suspect assaulted the male subject, and one officer deployed pepper spray as he was taken into custody. The suspect was treated on scene by medics for pepper spray exposure.»
All I can say is...yikes.
Alex Alexeyev stepped in due to an injury to Martin Fehervary and played decently well on the Caps' blue line during his absence.
It's tough to say how the Washington Capitals will handle this situation moving forward.
