Alex Ovechkin summed up one of the greatest achievements in NHL history.
The Washington Capitals captain officially wrote his name at the top of the all-time goals leaderboard by scoring his 895th career goal and surpassing Wayne Gretzky's record.
And in true Ovechkin fashion, the moment was memorable as the milestone itself.

The goal came from his signature office which is the left circle on the power play and was done with a huge one-timer that beat Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin and Ovechkin brought fans to their feet at UBS Arena.
As the puck hit the net, Alex Ovechkin dropped to the ice and slid across the blue line on his stomach in a celebration that instantly went viral.
