Here are some facts you probably didn't know about NHL superstar Alexander Ovechkin

Alexander Ovechkin accomplished the feat in 1,486 games which is one fewer than Wayne Gretzky and he now has six games left this season to become the NHL's all-time goal-scoring leader.

The 39-year-old Capitals captain has stayed very productive and Ovechkin scored his 800th to 894th goals in just 182 games which is half the time it took Gretzky.

He's also second only to Gretzky in multi-goal games with 179 and sits tied for fifth all-time in hat tricks with 32.

After missing 15 games with a fractured fibula, Ovechkin returned to form and scored 26 goals in 61 games.

With 41 goals in 60 games this season, he is only behind Leon Draisaitl and William Nylander in the 2025 goal race and Alex Ovechkin is entering Sunday's game riding a four-game goal streak.

His first goal against Chicago was his 55th scored within the first five minutes of a game which is tying Mario Lemieux for second-most of all-time and it also marked his 242nd first-period goal which is setting a new NHL record.

Ovechkin's 894th goal was his 136th career game-winner and this is passing Jaromir Jagr for the most in NHL history he's also been lethal on the road by netting eight of his 12 power-play goals this season away from home.

Ovechkin ranks among the NHL's hardest shooters with a 98.9 mph shot this year and he is the fourth fastest league-wide since he's logged 27 shots over 90 mph just behind Tage Thompson.

Now just six goals away from becoming the first NHL player to reach 900 goals in a career, Alex Ovechkin also chases Gordie Howe's 975 professional goals and Gretzky's 940 combined NHL/WHA goals.
