Alexander Ovechkin reveals his retirement plans in surprising interview

The Washington Capitals have unfortunately been eliminated from the NHL post season, and fans now turn their attention to captain Alexander Ovechkin as he enters the final year of his contract. That said, rumours have surfaced regarding Alexander Ovechkin potentially joining the KHL next season, and Ovechkin has recently come out with a statement that will have all fans relieved.
Can you imagine a Washington Capitals squad without Alexander Ovechkin? I sure can't.
Since his emergence in the league in the mid 2000's, Alexander Ovechkin has carved out a legacy that stands at the top with some of the NHL's all-time greats.
However, Spencer Carbery made some strange comments after Game 5 which sparked quite the controversy in Caps' nation.
Alexander Ovechkin plans to return to the NHL next season
«Be honest (with) you, I haven't thought about it yet, but we'll see what's going to happen,» he said. «Obviously, I'm going to try to do my best to be able to do well next year, and we'll see.»
«Be honest (with) you, you never thought how many games you're going to play,» he said. «You never think how many goals you're going to score, because you never know what's going to happen on the ice. I was lucky enough this year to be able to score the goals to break the record, obviously. I'm looking forward for next year. How I said, I'm going to be 40 and I'm going to try to do my best to play and my team is going to help me too.»
While Ovechkin's comments do spark a little mystery, you could tell by the grin on his face - he's coming back to the Capitals 100%.
