Amazing scene in Washington as Alexander Ovechkin ties Wayne Gretzky's all-time scoring record

Alexander has accomplished what seemed so impossible just a few years ago. Just now, "The Great Eight" has tied Wayne Gretzky's all-time scoring record, notching his 894th career goal.
At 6:13 in the 3rd period, John Carlson found Alexander Ovechkin in his favourite spot -- his office -- where Ovechkin blasted home the goal that tied Wayne gretzky's all-time scoring record.
While Ovechkin still needs one more goal to get over the hump, an amazing scene occurred at Capital One Arena as the whole game stopped to acknowledge his accomplishment.

I have to admit -- this one gave me goosebumps.
Following the goal, the entire Washington Capitals bench cleared as Ovechkin's teammates took the ice to celebrate with him.
As things settled down, Alexander Ovechkin took an extended solo lap around the rink, with the crowd going wild, cheering him on and chanting his name.
"The Great One", Wayne Gretzky, is also in attendance tonight, and a stunning shot of him appeared on television, standing up, looking incredibly proud and almost astonished.
Gretzky has long been a supporter of Ovechkin's quest, predicting at the 2020 NHL All-Star Game in St. Louis that Ovechkin had «a legitimate chance» to break the record and saying in October, "It's just a matter of time, whether it's late this year, early next year, whenever.»
