With just over 24 hours to go until puck drop, anticipation is building for the opening game between the Canadiens and the Capitals.

For Montreal fans, it's a long-awaited return to playoff hockey, the team's first postseason appearance since 2021, and Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery isn't planning on taking the Canadiens lightly.

Washington Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery praises Canadiens star rookie Ivan Demidov, along with their top line and offensive depth.

Tarik El-Bashir took to X on Sunday to share Carbery's praise for the Canadiens' rookie forward Ivan Demidov.
Spencer Carbery says two things stand out MTL rookie Ivan Demidov: 1) he wants the puck in the big moment and 2) his poise and confidence with the puck is mature for a 19 yo. «It's challenging-I agree with he assessment because you don't have a lot of film on him.» #ALLCAPS
In addition, Carbery also had a lot of good things to say about Canadiens' lineup depth.
WSH Capitals coach Spencer Carbery today on the Habs, specifically mentioning Ivan Demidov:

«They're very deep. I find that their forward group especially now with the addition of Demidov gives them a little bit of a new look. If Marty deploys Demidov & Laine & Newhook as a real offensive line that he can give a bunch of O-zone starts to, that he can put on the fly»
And let's not forget about the Habs' top line...
"Since the Four Nations Tournament, we've seen them as the best line in the league" -Carbery

Montreal's top line, featuring Cole Caufield, Nick Suzuki, and Juraj Slafkovsky, stands out as one of the most dangerous trios in the NHL, racking up a combined 85 goals during the regular season.
We'll see if the Capitals will be able to contain Montreal's top unit starting on Monday night in Game 1 of their series at the Capital One Arena in Washington.
