Alex Ovechkin is the @ThePHWA Washington chapter's nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy for perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.
The nomination isn't much of a surprise considering that
Ovechkin broke the record with his 42nd goal of the season at 39 years old. Ovechkin has clearly shown no signs of slowing down throughout his incredible career.

Gretzky finished his career with 894 goals in 1,487 games over 20 NHL seasons. Ovechkin, meanwhile, has 895 goals in 1,487 games over his 20 NHL seasons.
