The Washington Capitals are gearing up for a heated Game 3 showdown against the Carolina Hurricanes tonight, but a new development regarding forward Mark Jankowski could give the Caps' an edge. According to Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour, forward Mark Jankowski remains doubtful for Game 3 tonight.
According to RMNB, Mark Jankowski, who lined up as the team's fourth-line center, suffered an undisclosed injury in Carolina's 2-1 victory. The 30-year-old forward skated just 6:16 of ice time in the win, taking his last shift with 4:42 remaining in the second period.
Mark Jankowski doubtful for Game 3
Following Carolina Hurricanes 3-1 loss in Game 2, head coach Rod Brind'Amour made himself available to the media, giving his take on Jankowski's injury.
According to sources, Jack Roslovic will be taking Jankowski's spot in the lineup.
«I don't think it's too serious, but enough that he couldn't play,» Brind'Amour said.
Having Jankowski missing from the Hurricanes lineup is a significant development, to say the least.
Jankowski is a former first-round NHL pick back in 2012. Although he's bounced around the league quite a bit, he's slowly cemented his role on the Hurricanes leading up to the postseason.
The Hurricanes acquired Jankowski at the trade deadline from the Nashville Predators. In 19 regular-season games, the former first-round pick of the Calgary Flames recorded eight points, all goals. He has played in just three of Carolina's six playoff games.
