According to the NHL, Andersen can earn performance bonuses of up to $750,000 for playing at least 35 games ($250,000), at least 40 games ($250,000) and if the Hurricanes advance to the conference final and he plays at least half of their postseason games ($250,000).
The 35-year-old goalie was 13-8-1 with a 2.50 goals-against average and .899 save percentage in 22 regular-season games. He missed 39 games because of a knee injury in October that required surgery on Nov. 22.
All eyes are on Frederik Andersen as the series against the Washington Capitals approaches.
Andersen had an injury scare in Game 5 against the New Jersey Devils, but fortunately for the Canes', he's back on the ice practicing with the team and looks ready to go for the series.
Either way, the Capitals can expect to see plenty more of Freddy Andersen next season, with another full slate of Metropolitan Division matchups on the horizon.
So far in his NHL career, Andersen has earned a postseason record of 41-31 with a 2.42 goals-against average, a .915 save percentage, and three shutouts.
