Capitals' forward Dylan Strome had himself a career season. Playing on a top line with Alex Ovechkin, Strome tallied a career high 82 points in 82 games this season in Washington scoring 29 goals and 53 assists.

Capitals forward Dylan Strome addresses fanbase in a heartfelt letter, expressing his love and gratitude for the city of Washington.

When the Arizona Coyotes selected Dylan Strome with the No. 3 pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, he became the second member of his family to be drafted in the first round. His older brother, Ryan Strome, was taken No. 5 overall by the New York Islanders in 2011.
Dylan Strome made his NHL debut on October 18, 2016, picking up an assist in the Coyotes' 7-4 loss to the Ottawa Senators. Over three seasons with Arizona, he appeared in 48 games before being traded to the Chicago Blackhawks on November 25, 2018.
After becoming an unrestricted free agent, following the Blackhawks' decision not to tender a qualifying offer despite him scoring a career-high 22 goals, Strome signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Washington Capitals on July 14, 2022.
The rest as we always say, is history...
Strome begins his letter expressing nothing but love for the city of Washington.
"I'm so thankful to be here in Washington, to be a part of the Capitals family. And I just wanted to talk to you all. Because, if I can be honest, there were times where I thought I might never get to this point - where I might never be on a team like this, in a city like this. I don't take any of this for granted." -Strome

Strome also went on to write about what it's been like playing alongside the greatest goal scorer of all time, Alex Ovechkin.
"I don't know what it was, I was just looking through the glass. And man, I swear, all I saw was the number 8. Everywhere. Just Ovi jersey after Ovi jersey. They were 10 rows deep. And every time he touched the puck, there was this hum of excitement. Like you could feel everybody stand up, 18,000 all holding their breath. I've played with some great players, but these last few weeks - being able to watch him chase Gretzky's record, and to play a part in it, it's just been incredible. I don't know how else to put it." -Strome

Despite some difficulty finding his game in Arizona and Chicago early on in his career, Strome knew that Washington presented an opportunity to press the reset button and unlock his true potential as a player.
«I thought I might never get to this point - where I might never be on a team like this, in a city like this. I don't take any of this for granted.»

Strome also went on to write about Ovechkin and John Carlson as two of the best leaders in the league.
"I don't think you could have two better leaders in the league. They keep our room focused and having fun. That's the toughest balance in sports, I think. John is one of those players that, when you see him up close, you're just blown away. He sees the ice like nobody else. He knows every angle and breakout. Just a textbook defensemen." -Strome
Washington finished first in NHL's Eastern Conference this season with an impressive 51-22-9 record.
Strome ended his letter with these profound words...
"I really love this group. And I love being a Capital. We love it. My Wife, Tayler, and our two daughters feel completely at home here. Thank you for welcoming us and making us feel a part of the community these last few years, Washington. See you at the rink." -Strome

We'll see if Strome and the Capitals can continue their incredible season throughout the course of the playoffs. They currently hold a 1-0 series lead in their first-round matchup against the Montreasl Canadiens.
Game 2 is set for Wednesday night at 7pm in Washington.
