Former Canadiens' defenseman reacts to the save of the year
Goaltending has clearly been the storyline in the first two games of the series between the Montreal Canadiens and Washington Capitals.
Canadiens' Sam Montembeault and Capitals'
Logan Thompson have made some great saves so far this series, but nothing compares to what we saw from Thompson on Wednesday night in Game 2.
ESPN analyst and former Canadiens' defenseman P.K. Subban reacts to Logan Thompson's incredible glove save on Jake Evans in Game 2.
The former Norris Trophy winner shared his reaction on X shortly after the incredible save.
Oh my god Logan Thompson🤯
Although it still looks like Canadiens forward Jake Evans hits the post on the play, Thompson still managed to get across the crease and get a piece of the puck with his right arm.
Canadiens fans will forever be haunted that they came inches away from tying the game in the third period.
Clearly, Thompson appears to be a bit too focused, even after his Game 2 performance.
Logan Thompson: "Luckily things went my way tonight, and we got the two points."
Dylan Strome: "It's playoffs, there's no two points."
Connor McMichael and Dylan Strome scored just a minute apart early in the second period, while Logan Thompson made 25 saves, including some highlight-reel stops, as the Washington Capitals defeated the Montreal Canadiens 3-1 on Wednesday night, taking a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven first-round series.
Game 3 is set for Friday night in Montreal, bringing playoff hockey back to a packed Bell Centre for the first time since 2017. During the Canadiens' 2021 run to the Stanley Cup Final, pandemic restrictions limited attendance to just 3,500 fans.
We'll see if Thompson can handle the pressure on the road in front of a sold out Bell Centre crowd. It'll be fun to see!
