Former NHL legend Jaromir Jagr will always be remembered as one of the greatest talents to grace the league - and he's still going strong.

Despite recently selling his team - the Kladno Knights, a team he captained and played for, the grizzled veteran announced he plans to continue playing hockey.

Jaromir Jagr plans to continue his playing career

«I said it might be my last year, but I'm not sure about it,» Jagr said. «I still love the game. I love to practice. I don't want to get fat. I lost some weight right now, like 20 pounds, so I feel a little bit better, and I love to practice. I just do it just to be healthy, and I just enjoy the existence.

Jagr stated last September that the 2024-25 season would be his last, but it sounds like those plans may have changed. He then played his most games and recorded his most points in a Czech Extraliga season since the 2021-22 campaign.
«I sold the team I play for,» Jagr added. «I keep only 20 percent, so there's no pressure. I just want to do what I love to do."

The Pittsburgh Penguins took Jagr 5th overall in the 1990 NHL draft, and he went on top become a top 5 player in hockey history. He won two Stanley Cups with the Penguins in his first two years, and then went on to torch the NHL offensively - even in eras where it was hard to score.
He scored over 50 goals three times in his career, twice in the 2000s. Jagr was a reliable scorer late into his career, scoring 27 goals at age 44 with the Florida Panthers in 2015-16.
In his later years Jagr became an NHL journeyman, but throughout his career he was always this way. He had left the NHL to play in the Czech Pro League and the KHL multiple times in his career, which only makes his career offensive totals even more impressive.
Jagr played 1733 NHL games, scoring 766 goals and 1921 points. Had he not left to play overseas in the middle of his career, Jagr may have threatened Gretzky's goal record.
Who will Jagr end playing for next? Time will tell.
