Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour announces that Freddy Andersen will start in goal in Game 1 of their second-round matchup against the Washington Capitals.

Brind'Amour confirmed that their star goalie will be good to go after missing their final game of the first round with an unspecified injury.

Freddy Andersen will start Game 1 against the Capitals on Tuesday.

Tom Gulitti took to X and reported the news earlier this afternoon.
Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour said Freddie Andersen is good to go to start Game 1 against the Capitals tonight after missing their final game of the first round with an unspecified injury.

Brind'Amour said should be same lineup otherwise.
Andersen had an injury scare in Game 5 against the New Jersey Devils, but fortunately for the Canes', he's back on the ice practicing with the team and looks ready to go for the series.
On top of that, The Carolina Hurricanes have resigned their star goaltender to a one-year contract extension $2.75 million contract.
While the deal may not seem like a big one, Andersen's new contract comes with some intriguing incentives that give him the opportunity to boost his earnings.
FREDZILLA IS STAYING PUT! 🦖

The @Canes have inked Frederik Andersen to a one-year deal!
Andersen can earn performance bonuses of up to $750,000 for playing at least 35 games ($250,000), at least 40 games ($250,000) and if the Hurricanes advance to the conference final and he plays at least half of their postseason games ($250,000).
The 35-year-old goalie was 13-8-1 with a 2.50 goals-against average and .899 save percentage in 22 regular-season games. He missed 39 games because of a knee injury in October that required surgery on Nov. 22.
The Carolina Hurricanes are gearing up for a fiery showdown against the Washington Capitals in the second-round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Game 1 puck drop is set for 7:00pm from Capital One Arena on Tuesday night.
