Jonathan Toews is fully committed to a return to the NHL in 2025-2026

Jonathan Toews is 100% committed to a return to the NHL next season, according to a Twitter account post made by TSN's Pierre Lebrun on Wednesday, and may be signed as early as July 1st, when NHL free agency opens.
"Jonathan Toews reached out to his agent Pat Brisson yesterday to inform him that he's 100 percent committed to coming back to the NHL next season," Lebrun reported. "Just spoke with Brisson, who said he'll start taking calls from NHL teams on Toews leading up to July 1."
The phone will indeed be ringing as inquiries and offers are made to entice the 37 year-old to sign. Toews is an established NHL star, though he has not played since April 13, 2023.
Jonathan Toews stepped away from the game to recover from the effects of long COVID and chronic immune response syndrome.
Darren Dreger added in a Twitter post that the three-time Stanley Cup champ has a long list of interested teams, including his hometown Winnipeg Jets.
The star forward has only played for the Chicago Blackhawks in his storied career. In his last season with the squad, he recorded 31 points (15g,16a). The top-center made headlines when he revealed to GQ that he spent time in India undergoing a five-week Ayurvedic detox called, 'Panchkarma', involving induced vomiting and daily enemas.
In March, Toews told The Athletic's Mark Lazerus, that he was undergoing intense and grueling conditioning in Arizona, to work on his skating. Jonathan will be eligible to sign his first NHL contract since 2013, effective July 1st.
Over his career, Toews played 1061 games and recorded 883 points (372g, 511a), won the Conn Smythe Trophy (2010), Selke Trophy (2013), Mark Messier Leadership Award (2013), and was an all-star six times.
There will be no shortage of suitors for Toews' talents, that much should be obvious, and not only for his skills on the ice, but also for his leadership qualities off of it. He is a proven captain, leader, and mentor for any team that requires a one for their young talent.
