Washington Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson is going through a tough stretch.
After letting in 3 goals on just 12 shots, it's clear that Logan Thompson is playing through some discomfort. It has now been officially announced he is dealing with an upper-body injury.
Logan Thompson could fall out of Vezina Trophy contention
It's no secret that
Logan Thompson has been having an all-star calibre season for the Washington Capitals.
Unfortunately, things have taken a turn for the worse. In just one week, Thompson's save percentage has dropped from .915 to .910 -- a significant decline.
Logan Thompson has seen his stats fall mightily over the last week, as he fell from a .915 SV% to a .910 SV% 😵💫 Thompson saved 9/12 for a .750 against Carolina and 15/22 for a .682 against Buffalo in that span. May see himself fall out of the Vezina top-3 after seeming like a consensus top-3 as we approached the season late.
For most of the 2024-25 NHL campaign,
Logan Thompson has been a front-runner for the Vezina Trophy, but this upper-body injury could not have come at a worse time.
Although no official update on his upper-body injury has been given, Capitals head coach reveals that Logan Thompson will be assessed upon their return to Washington.
While this is purely speculative, it's highly unlikely he draws back into the lineup as the Capitals will want him ready for the playoffs.
His struggles this week have hurt his Vezina Trophy chances, and missing the rest of the regular season might seal his fate.
