Rating Clay Stevenson's 2024-25 season
The Washington Capitals are officially out of the playoffs, and the team turns their attention to next season to get the job done. While the team didn't get the results they had hoped for, one aspect of the team to feel optimistic about is goaltender Clay Stevenson.
Washington Capitals goaltender might be one of the most promising goalie prospects in the NHL.
While his time in the NHL was limited to just one game this season, fans got a good glimpse of his capabilitites.
Clay Stevenson emerges as most exciting goalie prospect in the NHL
In the regular seaosn with the Hershey Bears, Stevenson finished with an 18-8-4 record with two sutouts, a 2.94 goals against average and an .888 save percentage.
In the Calder Cup Playoffs he allowed four goals in his one game played. But last year he played in two games during their Calder Cup Playoff run.
Grade B-: There wasn't really much to grade when it came to Hutner Shepard's and Clay Stevenson's lone starts. But it was bad. Granted the Caps didn't really have anythig to play for in those two games.
Clay Stevenson made his NHL debut towards the end of the regular season against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Although he let in 5 goals, he showed flashes of brilliance, making timely stops at the right moments.
Playing your first ever NHL game against a legend like Crosby isn't easy, one can only imagine the nerves that came with that.
That said, Clay Stevenson is one of those prospects the Caps' should continue to nurture and develop.
He's showing showing true signs of promise, and all sings point towards a full-time gig in the NHL in the near future.
