Scary scene in Toronto: referee escorted off the ice with blood curdling injury

The Toronto Maple Leafs are currently in the midst of a fiery Game 7 clash against the Florida Panthers, but a scary scene has quieted the fans at Scotia Bank Arena.
Game 7 in the NHL? Is there anything better?
Despite all the energy swirling behind this highly anticipated matchup, a blood curdling scene involving Chris Rooney has taken the breath right out of the building.
Chris Rooney takes high stick in Game 7
In the early parts of the game, an accidental play occurred where the stick of Florida Panthers defenseman
Niko Mikkola rode up in the corner, making hard contact with the eye of NHL referee Chris Rooney.
Rooney Immediately fell to the ice in pain, covering his face as blood rushed on the ice. Luckily he did not have to be taken off in a stretcher but was forced to leave the game with the help of the other officials.
According to Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman, Rooney is in stable condition and will make a full recovery.
The area in which Rooney was hit is an extremely vulnerable area, but it doesn't take away the severity and scary nature of the injury.
Hopefully, Rooney is back on his feet soon.
