With an incredible record of 31-6-6 to end the 2024-25 regular season, The NHL had something else to say about Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson.

The NHL announced today that Connor Hellebuyck (Jets), Darcy Kuemper (Kings), and Andrei Vasilevskiy (Lightning) have been named the three finalists for the 2024-25 Vezina Trophy, awarded annually to the league's top goaltender.
Thompson finshed the regular season with an amazing save percentage of .910 and goals against average of 2.49.
Fans took to X to voice their frustration on the NHL's decision in not considering Thompson as a Vezina candidate for this season.
No Logan Thompson in ur Vezina ballot? DO WE WATCH THE SAME SPORT? Coming back from injury and he is just immense. Phenomenal.
personally logan thompson is MY vezina winner
Thompson was also snubbed from Team Canada in the 4 Nations Face-Off this past February.
As for his competitors, Josh Erickson from Pro Hockey Rumors writes that Hellebuyck helped lead a Jets team that entered the season with uncertainty to its first-ever Presidents' Trophy, compiling a league-best 47-12-3 record across 62 starts and one relief appearance. This marks his third straight Vezina Trophy nomination, alongside winning his second consecutive Jennings Trophy for backstopping the NHL's top defensive team.
"Playoff performance so far notwithstanding, Hellebuyck's regular-season numbers have him as the clear favorite to win the Vezina for the second year in a row and the third time in his career. That's certainly a long way off from Jacques Plante's record of seven, but he could be the first one to join the three-time club since Martin Brodeur won his third of four in 2007." -Erickson

Erickson also writes that Vasilevskiy is expected to finish as the runner-up to Hellebuyck after a strong bounce-back season in 2024-25. Vasilevskiy posted a .921 save percentage, 2.18 goals-against average, six shutouts, and a 38-20-5 record across an NHL-leading 63 starts. His .921 SV% was his best in four seasons, and he ranked second only to Hellebuyck with 29.2 goals saved above expected, a career high for the 30-year-old, who is now a five-time Vezina finalist.
The winner of the Vezina Trophy will be announced at the NHL Awards on June 27 in Las Vegas.
