TJ Oshie sends strong message to his team during emotional statement

Today, Washington Capitals forward TJ Oshie broke the hearts of the fan base, announcing his retirement from the NHL.
Last week, TJ Oshie disclosed that he would be coming out with a «big announcement» and fans gathered in masses today to support the Caps veteran.
TJ Oshie announces his retirement
According to Athlon Sports, Holding back tears during a press conference in front of the Washington Harbor,"The moment my skates touched the ice, I gave you everything I had," Oshie said. "With that, after 17 unforgettable years in the NHL, I've decided to retire."
«I would like to thank the Washington Capitals and the St. Louis Blues for giving me the opportunity to play the game I love, all of my teammates who battled with me every night, my coaches who challenged me to be better every day, and the athletic trainers and equipment staff who got me ready to play.
"I also want to thank the fans your energy and passion made every game memorable, and it was an honor to play in front of you."
As per Emilie Hicks, Oshie teared up again talking about Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, John Carlson, and Tom Wilson. "You four have a special place in my heart. A bond reserved only for family. I consider you my brothers. Thank you for accepting from Day 1 and standing by my side through it all."
Regardless, TJ Oshie will always be remembered as one of the greatest Capitals players of all-time, and he would sorely be missed in DC.
