Golden Knights target Capitals' forwards to shore-up depth

Goalie Logan Thompson was traded to Washington from Vegas last summer, and Las Vegas was in shock to see the personable netminder go. Thompson was traded for 3rd-round picks, one in 2024 and one in 2025. The trade established Aidan Hill as Vegas' goalie of he future.

Now, it seems, the Vegas Golden Knights are looking to the Washington Capitals to help improve their own squad. In order to improve, Vegas needs depth in the Wing position, claiming, in fact, that it was a lack of success in that position that factored into their loss to the Oilers in 5 playoff games.
Specifically, Vegas is interested in three of the Capitals' unrestricted free agents, three forwards that can add scoring to the bottom-six of their roster.
The first is T.J.Oshie, who didn't play in 2024-25 because of a chronic back injury that kept him out. Oshie is 38 and reaching the end of his career; but he is also a proven and reliable goal scorer when called upon. He is experienced on special teams, with 7 powerplay goals in 2023-24, which was helped by his excellent shot.
Oshie has scored 302 career goals and can play an aggressive-style game when needed.
The second Capital that Vegas would like is Taylor Raddysh, who is 27 years-old, stands 6'3" and weighs 198lbs. He scored 20 goals last season with the Caps and is the kind of consistent player that coaches love, and can thrive under Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy.
Finally, Andrew Mangiapane, a constant threat to score when the puck is on his stick; he reads the ice well when on special teams. Andrew is a reliable penalty killer and can be used in bottom-six roles, and is an aggressive forechecker who can pair well with Keegan Kolesar.
How likely it is that Vegas will get all three, or even one of these players, remains to be seen, as the Capitals will surely have considerations of their own for the talented forwards. Players with their skill-set do not come cheap, and replacing any one of them will mean giving up prospect or draft capital.
Washington may just sign the three UFA's and consider a trade at a future date, once their roster is more established.
GM Chris Patrick will have a busy summer, with free agency only a month away, and many signings to consider. It should be an interesting offseason.
