What a week for Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson.
Although
Tom Wilson has been labeled a menace on the ice, he's anything but that off it.
Tom Wilson honoured with The Dave Fay Award
For those unfamiliar with the Ted Fay Award, it's a distinguished honour awarded internally within the Capitals organization.
While it may not carry the same weight as an official NHL accolade, such as the Hart, Rocket, or Lady Byng, it's still a significant recognition-- one that Wilson should be incredibly proud of.
The Dave Fay Award is presented annually to the Capitals player who best exhibits a strong rapport with the media. Fay covered the Capitals for The Washington Times from the newspaper's inception in 1982 until 2007.
Fay, who passed away in 2007 after a battle with cancer, was posthumously awarded the Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award by the Hockey Hall of Fame, presented in "recognition of distinguished members of the newspaper profession whose words have brought honour to journalism and to hockey."
Following his recent nomination for the King Clancy Award-- and now being honoured with the Dave Fay Award--it's a true testament to Wilson's character and how he treats those around him.
