2 Caps players won't return to line-up next season

Given the Washington Capitals' 2024-25 regular season success, and their relative playoff success, it's not a stretch to suggest that most of last year's roster will be back in a Caps' jersey when the puck drops on the 2025-26 season.

We already know about Nicklas Backstrom, and T.J Oshie most likely will not be signed by the team - both are unrestricted free agent as of July 1.
Yet, could there be others that will not be with the Washington Capitals when the next season begins. Some of the numbers suggest that may very well be the case.
Lars Eller was brought in from the Pittsburgh Penguins early last season as a 3rd-line center. At the age of 36 he enter this summer as an unrestricted free agent, joining the two aforementioned players.
Eller finished the season with 10 goals and 12 assists, though 3 goals and 3 assists were scored prior to his arrival in D.C. Still, he scored them. But in the 63 games in which he did dress for Washington, he recorded 6 goals and 9 assists, and was not very noticeable during the playoffs.
Andrew Mangiapane, another UFA, was a solid bottom-six pick up, scoring 14 goals and 14 assists, providing depth, secondary scoring that the Caps needed last season.
Yet, between the other UFAs Anthony Beauvillier and Taylor Raddysh, Mangiapane may very well end up being the odd man out, as his higher price tag will force management to make a decision regarding a new contract.
Raddysh is 27 years old and had a 2024-25 season AAV of $1M; Beauvillier is also 27 years old with an AAV last season of $975k. Mangiapane is the oldest of the three at 29 years old, and his previous 3-year contract commanded an AAV of $5.8M. The dollars may not favor Andrew.
We will keep you informed as the Washington roster shapes-up closer to the fall.
