The Washington Capitals have re-called goaltender Hunter Shepard from the Hershey Bears. The Wahington Capitals made this move following Logan Thompson's upper-body injury sustained during Wednesday's game against the Hurricanes.

The Washington Capitals are gearing up for a Western Conference showdown against the woeful Chicago Blackhawks, and tonight's game presents several intriguing headlines.
Although fans around the league will be tuning in to watch Alexander Ovechkin take one step closer to making history, the Capitals decision to call up Hunter Shepard from Hershey signals a troubling development -- Logan Thompson is hurt, and the severity is still a mystery.
According to RMNB, Thompson had given up three goals on 12 shots in the first frame before Lindgren took over. The 28-year-old backstop didn't suffer an apparent injury but did take a hard shot to the mask from Hurricanes defenseman Sean Walker, which caused a stoppage in play.
With the playoffs right around the corner, the Capitals are now in a tough spot with Logan Thompson sidelined for an indefinite amount of time.
