Following a recent interview with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Capitals assistant coach Mitch Love is now being also considered by the Seattle Kraken for their vacant head coaching position.

"Seattle continues to work through its process in hiring a head coach," Darren Dreger of TSN posted."

Love, a defense specialist and assistant coach for the Washington Capitals, has no shortage of coaching expertise and experience.
Forty year old Mitch Love was the assistant coach of the WHL's Everett Silvertips of the Pacific Northwest for six years, and was a 2-time AHL Coach Of The Year, then with the Calgary Flames' organization.

Mitch Love clearly knows what it takes to coach a winning team.

"He's done a tremendous job for us and very similar coaching path from where I came from, having been an assistant a couple of years," Caps head coach Carbery said of Love. "Hoping that he gets an opportunity at some point. He deserves it. He's earned it. He's done a great job coaching our D-Corps the last two years., has had a ton of success as a head coach. He is a head coach, and so it's just a matter of him getting an opportunity."

The Seattle Kraken did not make the playoffs this season in the Western Conference, with a record of 35-41-6. They subsequently fired their head coach Dan Bylsma after just one year.
In fact, in their four years in the NHL, Seattle has only qualified once for the post-season, 2023. Whomever they end up hiring, qualifying for the NHL playoffs will be a clear priority.
In addition to Love, Seattle Kraken are looking at others to fill the vacancy behind their bench.
"Toronto has granted the Kraken permission to speak with Lane Lambert. Mitch Love and Dan Quinn believed to be among those in the mix as well," Darren Dreger included in his post.

Seattle, Pittsburgh and Boston were the only other NHL teams without a head coach. Chicago recently hired a bench boss, according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period.
In my opinion, it won't be long before Love is behind an NHL bench as a number one guy.
