Alex Ovechkin has reached legendary status in the NHL with a Stanley Cup championship, nine Rocket Richard Trophies, a Hart Trophy and now the title of all-time leading goal scorer by passing Wayne Gretzky.

The Washington Capitals superstar has done just about everything possible on the ice, but even after 20 seasons, Alex Ovechkin still has one personal dream left and it has nothing to do with hockey.
«I've never had a chance to meet Michael Jordan,» Ovechkin said. «That's one of my dreams It's one of my dreams to meet the greatest player to play basketball.»
That dream might not be far off since Alex Ovechkin surpassed Wayne Gretzky's record with goal No. 895 earlier this month and Michael Jordan himself was among the many global sports icons who congratulated him by calling it «quite a record to break.»
The two have never crossed paths despite their shared status as generational athletes, but if anyone can turn a dream into reality it's Alex Ovechkin and as host Pat McAfee put it this way after what Ovi said:
«Now that you've said it out loud, I'm sure it'll happen.»

Alex Ovechkin's admiration for basketball runs deep since his mother named Tatyana Ovechkina was a star player for the Soviet Union and earned multiple gold medals and Olympic titles in the 1970s and '80s.
The love of the sport clearly runs in the family and with at least one more season under contract in Washington, Alex Ovechkin continues to add to his legacy.
But beyond goals and milestones, the 39-year-old shows that even the biggest legends still have dreams of their own.
