The Washington Capitals are looking to make some noise next week when they take on the pesky Montreal Canadiens in the first round of the 2025 NHL postseason. That said, the Capitals are dealing with a wave of injuries to key players-- one of the most notable being forward Aliaksei Protas, who remains sidelined.
The Washington Capitals have wrapped up their morning skate, but reports coming out of the session aren't exactly encouraging.
According to insiders, several players were noticeably absent-- including forward Aliaksei Protas, who continues to rehab from his skate blade injury.
With the postseason right around the corner, the mounting injuries are becoming a growing concern for the Capitals.
Unfortunately, Aliaksei Protas' cut appears to be much deeper than initially thought.
As of now, Aliaksei Protas has yet to resume skating, and there's no clear timeline for his return. His status for Game 1 against the Montreal Canadiens remains uncertain.
Yesterday, head coach Spencer Carbery made himself available to the media, emphasizing he will not be providing anymore any more updates on Protas' status.
«I'll be honest with you, after today, you will not get much from me on the injury front,» he said. «And, I can't really give you anything other than he'll just continue to progress and you'll see him practicing and one day, all of a sudden, he will be in the lineup, in warmup, and we'll see where it goes from there.»
