Scary scene at practice involving Jakob Chychrun
The Washington Capitals are wrapping up morning skate, and the team looks to make some noise heading into playoffs against the Montreal Canadiens on Monday, but injuries continue to decimate the team. That being said, the Capitals received another injury this morning regarding star defenceman Jakob Chychrun.
In the weeks leading up to the postseason, it feels like everything has been going wrong for the Washington Capitals.
Puck deflects up into Chychrun's face and he heads to locker room for repairs.
According to Capitals insider Tom Gulitti,
Jakob Chychrun took a deflected to the face and was forced out of practice to seek medical intervention.
Although a puck to the face typically means a few stitches, Jakob Chychrun's status will be monitored closely in the coming days. There's a chance we could see him suit up for Game 1 wearing the infamous bubble mask to protect facial repairs.
With injuries piling up-- including
Logan Thompson,
Aliaksei Protas,
Martin Fehervary, and now the scary incident involving Jakob Chychrun-- the Washington Capitals are limping into Monday's playoff opener against the Montreal Canadiens.
Hopefully, Chychrun's mishap won't affect his availability or performance when the puck drops.
Jakob Chychrun has been a revelation for the Washington Capitals blue line this season.
In 74 regular season games this season, Chychrun has amassed 47 points and posted an impressive +17 rating on the ice.
