In a heated rematch against the Carolina Hurricanes Thursday night in DC, Capitals goalie Charlie Lindgren gets scored on after getting slammed into his own net.

Bodies were flying in Thursday night's rematch between the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes as Caps goalie Charlie Lindgren was launched into his own net, resulting in a Hurricanes goal.

The Carolina Hurricanes took to X shortly after to thank Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson for hitting Hurricanes forward Jackson Blake into Lindgren.
"43 Washington with the assist!"
Waltt Ruff took to X after the goal and reported that neither player was seriously injured after the play.
"Jackson Blake and Charlie Lindgren both appear to be okay, which is most important, but that's a tough visual to see a goalie's head get rocked like that, and then hit the crossbar too. Especially when it's because of one of your own guys." -Ruff
Lindgren was able to stay in the game but definitely demanded an explanation from the referee afterwards.
Sammi Silber also took to X to explain how Caps goalie Charlie Lindgren demanded an explanation from officials as to why the goal counted.
"Lindgren spoke with the referee after that last whistle. Probably wanted an explanation. I don't think that goal should've counted." -Silber
X - Keith explained on X why the referees ruled it a good goal.
"Never saw a goal like this. Tom Wilson hit Jackson Blake into Charlie Lindgren. Puck goes in after the chaos. Ruled a goal because contact was initiated by the defensive player." - x - Keith
With the Capitals starter Logan Thompson already out with an injury, the Caps need to avoid letting bodies crash the crease that easily.
The Caps need to find a way to clean up their defensive game. They can't afford to also lose their backup, especially this close to the start of the NHL playoffs.
