The Washington Capitals are riding a strong wave in the playoffs, jumping out to a 2-0 lead in their first-round series against the Montreal Canadiens. They've outscored the Habs 6-3 so far, thanks to stellar goaltending, timely goals, and a strange pregame ritual.
Brandon Duhaime might be delivering the most creative contribution to the team's playoff run. Known for his physical style of play, he's now using his body in a different way...he's eating the starting lineup card before each game to fire up his teammates.

Duhaime's bizarre pre-game ritual has drawn so much buzz that Dylan Strome, who scored the game-winning goal in Game 2, was asked whether Duhaime will have to continue eating the lineup card before every game.

Ian Oland from RMNB writes that Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery is a big supporter of the players reading the lineup, and he's fully embraced Duhaime's locker-room antics, saying they've been matched or even topped by others throughout the season. For Carbery, these kinds of stunts are part of the team's emotional heartbeat, helping the players stay loose, have fun, and perform at their best. It's clearly paid off so far this season.
