The Washington Capitals responded with urgency and energy in Game 2 after their disappointing overtime loss in the opener.

With a stronger all-around effort, they bounced back to defeat the Carolina Hurricanes 3-1 at Capital One Arena, evening the series at one game apiece before heading to Raleigh for Game 3.

Capitals Tom Wilson has a strong bounce back game in Game 2.

Katie Adler from RMNB writes that Tom Wilson was instrumental in Washington's Game 2 victory, making key contributions at both ends of the ice. His physical presence, smart defensive play, and offensive involvement helped set the tone for the Capitals.
Head coach Spencer Carbery and several teammates singled him out as one of the game's most impactful performers, underscoring his leadership and all-around value to the team.
«I thought he was leading the charge tonight. Even before the play he makes on the power play and on the empty netter, I just thought he was really engaged.» -Carbery

Wilson's Game 2 performance is part of a larger trend this postseason, as he also played a pivotal role in turning the tide during Washington's first-round series against the Canadiens.
Goaltender Logan Thompson even joked after Thursday's win that he was nearly tired of praising Wilson, highlighting just how consistently influential the veteran forward has been for the Capitals in clutch moments.
«He was good. F-, I feel like I'm always talking about this guy. Like I said before, he does everything the right way. We build off it. I think the whole stadium built off it. So, big part of why we won tonight, and going to keep this thing going.» -Thompson

In Game 2 against the Hurricanes, Tom Wilson delivered a standout performance, recording his second multi-point night of the postseason with a goal and an assist.
His biggest contribution came early in the third period when he threaded a crisp pass through Jalen Chatfield to set up John Carlson's power-play goal, the eventual game-winner, showcasing his offensive vision and impact in high-stakes moments.
WHIP IT GOOD, CARLY
In the final minute of the game, Wilson put the finishing touch on Washington's win by outmuscling Seth Jarvis and netting an empty-goal, effectively ending any chance of a Hurricanes comeback and securing the 3-1 victory.
