Washington Capitals have stated on numerous occasions that one of their primary goals this offseason is to get younger, and so will be giving their prospects a good look.

Of the young prospects available to them, Bogdon Trineyev is an intriguing option the Caps will consider for their open roster spots.
Trineyev was selected in the 4th round (117th overall) in the 2020 NHL draft, and is coming off an impressive sophomore season with the AHL Hershey Bears, scoring 14 goals and 8 assists in 62 regular-season games.
Bogdan's quality, however, was noticeable in this season's playoff run with the Hershey Bears, where he scored 5 goals and 2 assists in 8 playoff games - just under a point-per-game pace.
Given the combination of Trineyev's growth and available spots on the Caps' roster, the young winger is almost certain to make the cut and play on the 4th line with Nic Dowd and Brandon Duhaime.
So what is the AHL champion's potential contribution to the Caps' lineup? Well, Trineyev is a true power forward and grinder who can move the puck and has good instincts in the O-zone.
He is also a strong, fast skater, and appreciated the physical part of the game; he's added strength over the years since being drafted and is much more comfortable shooting the puck.
Yet, it's Bogdon's play away from the puck that makes him valuable. The 6'3" forward gets to the dirty areas of the rink, sets screens and defends hard. He plays a 200 foot game, kills penalties, battler for the puck and blocks shots - a true workhorse.
However, more than all of his tangible skills - and they are many - what is most appealing about Trineyev's game is his coachability, and the kind of never-quit-attitude that coach Carbery demands of his players.
Bogdan Trineyev is currently under a one-year, 2-way contract, where he will earn $100k in the AHL and $775k in the NHL.
