Ex-Hershey Bears Players Rile Up Teammates Prior To Game 3 of AHL Playoffs
When it comes to showing support, there is nothing like having an ex-teammate in the locker room. In the Hershey Bears' case, they had three, 2-time Calder Cup Champions to lend their support.
Dylan Mcilrath,
Ryan Leonard and
Ethen Frank were in the Giant Center stands for game 3 of the AHL's Atlantic Division Finals. The once-Bears players were seen on the Jumbotron hollering and chanting - Let's Go Bears! And stirring up the crowd through the P.A. system, during crucial moments in the game.
The three ex-Bears were part of the 2023 and 2024 Calder Cup Championship teams, and having them in the stands was great.
But better than that even, was having them in the locker room before the crucial game 3, down 0-2 to Charlotte.
"Alright boys. You've been here before! Let's (expletive) go!" Dylan Mcilrath was reported saying. "Backs against the wall before. You know how to win. Just go out and do it. Trust your brothers, trust yourself. Get a win tonight."
This, of course, got the boys in the locker room hollering and hyped to hit the ice.
Dylan Mcilrath was then given the honor of reading the starting line-up from the game sheet.
" Up front, we got Lappy, Limo, Smalls, Nesser, Bearsy, Shep-Daddy. Let's (expletive) go!"
The three former Bears were then shown on the Giant Center jumbotron before puck drop, again, firing-up the crowd and cheering-on their old team.
Trineyev would score the games opening goal, his team-leading 5th, followed by Mike Vecchione's marker and 3rd of the playoffs, to make it 2-0.
But it was too little, too late, as the Bears would go on to be swept from this season's AHL playoffs by the Charlotte Checkers, in three straight games, foiling their attempt at a Bears' three-peat.
