Following Monday's thrilling 3-2 overtime victory over the Montreal Canadiens, the Capitals were riding high with energy and excitement.

No major lineup changes for both the Capitals and Canadiens as they prepare for Game 2 of their first round series on Tuesday night.

The mood shifted drastically on Tuesday morning when the Capitals received news that defenseman Martin Fehervary will miss the rest of the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs.
Forward Aliaksei Protas (recovering from a skate cut on his left foot) skated solo again ahead of the morning session. Despite the progress, he's expected to miss his eighth consecutive game.
Here's the projected lineup for the Capitals...
Alex Ovechkin -- Dylan Strome -- Anthony Beauvillier
Alex Alexeyev -- Trevor van Riemsdyk
Injured: Aliaksei Protas (lower body), Martin Fehervary (lower body), Sonny Milano (upper body)
Montreal's top line of Cole Caufield, Nick Suzuki, and Juraj Slafkovsky had an impressive showing in Game 1, highlighted by Suzuki scoring the Canadiens' only 5-on-5 goal. The power play also showed signs of life as Caufield's goal at 10:32 in the 3rd period started their comeback.
Here's the projected lineup for the Canadiens...
Cole Caufield -- Nick Suzuki -- Juraj Slafkovsky
Mike Matheson -- Alexandre Carrier
Sam Montembeault
Injured: None
Puck drop is set for 7pm at Capital One Arena in Washington.
