Habs respond to Alexander Ovechkin's comments about the Bell Centre
The Washington Capitals are gearing up for an epic Game 5 showdown against the Montreal Canadiens tonight at Capital one arena, and Alexander Ovechkin has the opportunity to close out the series at home.
There's no denying the buzz around this series, but if the Washington Capitals want to close things out tonight, their fanbase is going to have to match the wild energy coming out of the Bell Centre for Games 3 and 4.
To be honest, the Bell Centre was absolutely electric -- Habs fans brought the noise.
But Capitals fans arent exactly quiet either. In fact, captain
Alexander Ovechkin didn't seem all that impressed with Montreal's crowd, saying the atmosphere at Capital One Arena was just as loud, if not louder.
Those comments didn't go over too well with the Canadiens organization, who didnt hold back in firing back at Ovechkin's take.
According to
Habs Fanatics, it went mostly unnoticed because there have been so many stories to cover in the past few hours, but the Montreal Canadiens organization did in fact post a short message, no doubt aimed at Alex Ovechkin.
"We can confirm, it's not the same as Washington."
- Montreal Canadiens
Well, there's nothing wrong with a little good ol' hockey banter, right?
With the series now at 3-1, the Washington Capitals have a firm grip on the lead. It'll be extremely interesting to see how they respond to the Habs digs -- both on the ice and on social media.
